The Indigenous Mapping Workshop Australia is now available online! The IMW Australia - On Demand has been purpose built for our participants to access culturally appropriate training from across country and community without needing to travel.
The IMW Australia - On Demand is an awesome opportunity for participants to access culturally appropriate and expert led training from the comfort of their community.
The platform hosts culturally appropriate content for participants of all mapping abilities and will provide workshop sessions on a variety of different platforms and mapping software.

How does it work?
The IMW Australia - On Demand is built on Open edX, a software used to deliver online courses, and can be accessed by all IMW participants. Users do not need to have any additional technical skills and it’s free to participate for anyone who has been accepted via the application form.
All courses on the platform are accessible on an ‘on-demand’ basis where learning is self paced and participants can fit their learning into their own schedules.
Participants are free to enrol in courses of their choice and are able to complete workshop activities through either desktop learning or using virtual labs.

Will I need to pay for access to learning materials or software?
No. All accepted applicants will have access to the IMW Australia - On Demand free of charge. You also aren’t required to pay for any software to participate in workshop materials.
We only recommend that your laptop or computer has an up-to-date web browser before commencing any coursework.
Do I still have to submit an application?
Yes. Even though the IMW Australia - On Demand is taking place online, our application process is still in place and participants need to be accepted before gaining access to the digital content.

Can I still participate in a lightning round?
Absolutely! After your application has been approved you will receive an invitation from us inviting you to participate in a lighting round presentation. Alternatively, you can get in touch with us at [email protected] to discuss this further.
Lightning round presentations will be presented virtually and our team will happily assist you in preparing your presentations.
Where can I access help?
The IMW Australia - On Demand will have both a course coordinator and additional training staff online to assist you with any mapping or curriculum related questions you may have.
The IMW Australia - On Demand will have a help desk to assist you with any of your IT related concerns.
Will there still be a face-to-face workshop?
Yes. We will host another face-to-face workshop in the future.
Our team is closely monitoring the current health situation around Australia and we will advise when the postponed workshop can take place.
